Literal Word Deep Links

Send users to a specific passage in the Literal Word app from anywhere. The same URL works on iOS and Android. Mobile users without the app see an install page; desktop browsers go straight to the passage in the web reader.

The URL

https://app.literalword.com/<book>/<chapter>[/<verse>]

<book> is the book number, 1–66 (Genesis = 1, … Revelation = 66 — see the table below). <chapter> and <verse> are plain numbers. The verse is optional — omit it to open the whole chapter.

Choosing a translation

To open the passage in a specific translation, put its name first in the path:

Valid translations: nasb, lsb, esv, nkjv, kjv (case-insensitive).

If you omit the translation (or pass one that isn't recognized):

In the app — the passage opens in the translation the user currently has open.
On the web reader (desktop) — the passage opens in NASB.

The version-in-path form requires app version 4.4.0 or later; on older app versions, omit the translation and the passage opens in the user's preferred translation.

Behavior by platform

Surface	What happens
iOS / Android, app installed	Opens the app and lands on the passage. The browser never opens.
iOS / Android, app not installed	Mobile users see an install page with App Store + Play Store badges. On iOS, the Smart App Banner appears at the top with the passage URL pre-armed — after install, tapping the link opens the app at the right passage.
Desktop browser (any OS)	Redirected to the web reader at `literalword.com`. Verse-level links open the whole chapter, scrolled to the linked verse with a brief highlight; chapter-level links open the chapter. Instant; no install pitch.

Notes

Verse ranges are not supported at this time. A link points at a single verse or a whole chapter; passing a range is not recognized.
The domain must be exactly app.literalword.com. URLs on the bare literalword.com do not open the app — they go to the web reader.
You can ship the same URL to all platforms. No need to detect the user's OS before constructing the link.
